CBSC's Brunch is a huge success!!!
On Sunday 11th September more than 140 people packed into the Parc Hotel in Cardiff to enjoy a exciting event hosted by CBSC. The event started with a welcome by our Chairperson, Sarah who explained that the event was to raise money for the Christchurch Appeal and RiseUpStacey. Sarah introduced Blues star Casey Laulala, who came along to tell guests about life in Christchurch post the devastating earthquake in February 2011. Rick O Shea then took the mic and warmed us up for the Wales v South Africa game with some humourous anecdotes. The match was exciting but obviously disappointing but we consoled ourselves with the good performance and promising signs for th rest of Wales' RWC campaign. We were pleased to be joined by the Probert family who had been living in Christchurch for a number of year but returned home to Wales after the occurrences there.
After the match we enjoyed a delicious brunch buffet - the queues were long as hungry guests had built up quite an appetite during the match but Jennie and the team at the Thistle looked after us very well and the food kept on coming! Our auction was more successful than we could have hoped for and we sold all of our items - the biggest amount of money being raised by our specially commissioned Blues Kiwi boys artwork which was generously bought by CBSC member Justin Smart, also popular was Sam Warburton's signed match shirt which was bought by our very own Stu Barter!
We have counted up the final total and we are delighted that we have raised a massive £5,732!!
