CBSC’s Season So Far:
September
We celebrated the opening game of Wales’ Rugby World Cup campaign with a special brunch event hosted by Scrum V’s Rick O’Shea at the Parc Hotel in Cardiff. Nearly 150 people gathered together for the screening of the match and ate a delicious brunch before participating in our special charity auction in aid of Christchurch charities Rise Up Stacey and Rise Up Christchurch. Blues player Casey Laulala was in attendance and he arranged for some special prizes to be donated by Sam Warburton, Martyn Williams, Richie McCaw, Sonny Bill Williams and Dan Carter. The event raised nearly £6,000 for the charities and a great time was had by all. Thanks to all those who attended and gave so generously, as well as our sponsors.
October
Over 100 Blues fans gathered together in the Arms Park Clubhouse to watch Wales in the Semi Final of the RWC. Songs were sung and beer was flowing until ‘that’ red card and we went on to lose the game. Once the disappointment started to fade, the songs started again and we began to look forward to the return of our Blues heroes.
November
Our brand new flag arrived and we packed it for the trip to Racing Metro in the HC. We didn’t run formal CBSC trip this time, but a few hundred made the journey and a fantastic weekend was had by all. We met Tom Shanklin and his fellow cyclists under the Eiffel Tower, took over a local bar and made friends with many locals in the after match party in Colombes. Photographs can be found on our facebook page !
We also hosted our Player of the Year/Pub Quiz Event at The Ninian Pub in Leckwith where our members joined by Blues stars Andries Pretorious, Jamie Roberts, Paul Tito, Martyn Williams, T Rhys Thomas, Dan Fish and Scott Andrews. Members tucked into a yummy curry with all the trimmings and we enjoyed a great pub quiz which was eventually won by CBSC member Steve and his team. Photographs of this event can be found on the POTY tab !
December
22 of our Junior Members took to the field to welcome the Blues onto the pitch in the crunch Heineken Cup game with Edinburgh. And what a great job they did too! Watch out on this website for future opportunities to support the Blues !
January
As the Heineken Cup group stages came to a gripping climax – hundreds of Blues supporters made their way up the M4 to support the boys in London Irish. CBSC took 3 buses of members and their guests to the game and we had a great time, stopping at a delightful pub en route for some pre match drinks before enjoying the entertainment at the stadium. And then we won !!! What an away trip it was ! The following week, we welcomed our French friends Racing Metro to the stadium. CBSC, along with colleagues from ‘Project 112’ generated a fantastic atmosphere which spread around the CCS, culminating in the whole of the Ninian Stand taking to their feet to cheer the boys in Blues on to victory.
